Job summary

Protec Fire & Security Group Ltd is seeking a Senior Commodity Buyer to drive procurement across major spend categories in the UK. The role focuses on developing and executing commodity strategies to improve quality, cost and delivery while mitigating supply risk.

You will negotiate contracts, monitor market trends, build supplier relationships and lead cross-functional procurement activities to support business objectives.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience on a significant commodity spend.
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills with an analytical, data-driven approach.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; proficient with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Self-motivated, able to manage workload and meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail and compliance with relevant standards; works accurately under pressure.
• Resilient and able to handle multiple priorities and changing demands.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver commodity strategies using market analysis and strategic sourcing to improve quality, cost and delivery while reducing supply risk.
• Negotiate supplier contracts, pricing and terms, manage logistics, and establish Long-Term Agreements supporting profitability and BOM cost control.
• Monitor market trends and regulatory requirements to inform long-term cost planning and ensure company policy compliance.
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers, assess capability and potential for growth.
• Identify, assess and onboard new suppliers, prioritise audits with Quality on supplier data and control of the supply chain.
• Lead cross-functional procurement meetings, communicate strategy, resolve actions, and report against KPIs.
