Job summary

Mitie is seeking a Buyer – Engineering Projects in the United Kingdom to support procurement for the Critical Environments business. You will help deliver category strategies, supplier performance, and commercial value while partnering with stakeholders across the business.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years' experience in procurement or buying, preferably in engineering.
• Strong commercial acumen with sourcing, negotiation and supplier management.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, written and verbal.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Support and lead strategic sourcing, negotiation, and contracting activities, ensuring optimal cost, quality, and service outcomes.
• Contribute to the development and execution of category strategies aligned to business needs and risk mitigation.
• Identify and deliver cost reduction opportunities while maintaining service performance and supply continuity.
• Implement and maintain supplier management programmes across strategic and preferred suppliers.
• Measure, review, and improve supplier performance, resolving issues and driving continuous improvement as well as build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, acting as a trusted commercial and procurement partner.
• Work cross-functionally with finance, audit, shared services, and operational teams to support business objectives and Support delivery of annual procurement targets across cost, quality, reliability, and service performance.
