Job summary

Extension Recruitment is seeking an Engineering Buyer to join a global engineering business in Newcastle. You will take ownership of procurement activities, sourcing materials, services and equipment, and work with project teams to meet cost, quality and delivery goals.

The role requires experience in manufacturing or engineering settings, strong negotiation skills, ability to read technical drawings, and MCIPS qualification or a relevant degree is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Previous purchasing experience within a manufacturing, engineering, or project-based environment.
• Strong negotiation and commercial skills.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop sourcing and commodity strategies.
• Manage supplier relationships and lead commercial negotiations.
• Prepare RFQs and purchase orders from technical drawings and specifications.
• Ensure timely procurement of materials, equipment, and services.
• Support cost control, risk management, and supply chain improvement initiatives.
