Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Strategic Buyer for a mechanical manufacturing services business supporting the aerospace and defence sectors in Poole. The role focuses on developing supplier relationships, driving commercial performance, and building a resilient, high-performing supply chain.

Qualifications

• Experience as Strategic Buyer, Senior Buyer, Procurement Manager or similar procurement role.
• Experience in aerospace, defence, manufacturing or engineering environments.
• Strong supplier relationship management and negotiation skills.
• Commercially and contractually strong with ability to negotiate and manage supplier contracts.
• Confident communicator capable of influencing stakeholders and suppliers at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage strategic supplier relationships to support business objectives.
• Negotiate and renew supplier contracts and long-term agreements.
• Manage supplier performance reviews, improvement initiatives and corrective actions.
• Coordinate risk assessments and supplier-related commercial agreements (NDAs, etc.).
• Provide demand forecasts to key suppliers to support capacity planning.
• Support operational purchasing activities when required.
