Job summary

Carter Murray, on behalf of a leading UK law firm, is seeking an experienced Bids Manager to join its Business Development team in Greater London. You will lead the bid function from qualification to submission, shaping winning strategies and client proposals with senior partners.

The role focuses on end-to-end bid management, tenders and panel opportunities, driving continuous improvement and ensuring high-quality content and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Significant experience managing bids, proposals or pursuits within a law firm or professional services environment.
• Strong project management skills to lead multiple complex opportunities simultaneously.
• Exceptional writing, editing and stakeholder management abilities.
• Experience working directly with partners and senior leadership teams.
• Commercially minded with a strong understanding of business development and client acquisition strategies.
• A proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to influence and drive results across the business.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end management of bids, tenders, proposals and panel appointments across the firm.
• Partner with partners and Business Development teams to develop pursuit strategies and win themes.
• Manage complex and high-value opportunities, ensuring submissions are delivered to a consistently high standard.
• Coach and challenge stakeholders to produce compelling, client-focused content.
• Coordinate cross-practice and cross-office bid teams to meet deadlines and client requirements.
• Analyse client needs, market trends and competitor activity to strengthen proposal strategies.
• Drive best practices, processes and bid governance across the firm.
• Monitor bid performance, win rates and lessons learned to support ongoing improvement initiatives.
