Job summary

National Highways seeks a Head of Asset Management (Managed Estate) to lead the non-occupied estate strategy and oversee land held for future schemes. You will drive value, safety and governance while coordinating with internal and external partners across multiple offices.

Based at one of our main offices (Birmingham, Bristol, Exeter, Wakefield, Leeds or Manchester) with regular travel to Exeter and portfolio sites, you’ll shape budgets, plans and disposals with a strong commercial focus.

Qualifications

• Qualified Chartered Surveyor with proven property/estate leadership experience.
• Experience managing complex property portfolios, disposals, and landlord/tenant matters.
• Ability to lead high-performing teams and manage delivery through internal and external partners.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, negotiation skills and commercial awareness.
• Strategic thinker who translates property expertise into business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy and management of National Highways' managed estate, maximizing value.
• Ensure estate remains safe, compliant and well governed across all estates.
• Oversee disposal of non-core property with governance and planning oversight.
• Manage large external suppliers to sustain service levels and value.
• Provide expert advice on leases, wayleaves, easements, acquisitions and disposals.
• Contribute to Estates & Facilities leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
