Job summary

Qualifications

• Significant experience in asset management, asset strategy or investment planning within utilities or similar sectors.
• Strong understanding of risk-based asset management and whole-life cost, cost-benefit and value optimization techniques.
• Experience developing business cases, investment justifications or regulatory submissions.
• Strong commercial awareness balancing performance, risk, cost and stakeholder outcomes.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement with senior levels across complex organisations.
• Degree in engineering, STEM, economics or related discipline; membership of a professional institution.
• Professional accreditation or chartered status is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of long-term asset group strategies that drive investment decisions across National Grid's transmission asset portfolio.
• Build and lead a multidisciplinary team of asset managers and analysts.
• Develop and maintain risk and value-based investment portfolios balancing asset performance and customer value.
• Use asset data and lifecycle insights to identify priorities and optimise investment across asset groups.
• Deploy cost modelling and investment appraisal ensuring evidence-based decisions.
• Own long-term priorities, reflecting emerging risks and changing network needs.
• Lead preparation of investment business cases and regulatory submissions.
• Build relationships with senior stakeholders across Asset Management, Engineering and external regulators.
• Provide assurance and transparency across investment decision processes.
• Help shape a strategic capability for asset investment decision-making.
