Job summary

Durham County Council is seeking an inspiring Strategic Manager to lead our approach to artificial intelligence and help shape how AI and emerging technologies are used responsibly across the council.

You will set the strategic direction for AI, develop our governance framework, oversee pilots, scale successful solutions and ensure lawful, ethical adoption aligned with information governance, cyber security and enterprise architecture.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level or equivalent in Computer Information Systems / Computer Science or related field.
• Further relevant technical vocational or management qualifications accepted.

Responsibilities

• Lead our approach to artificial intelligence and help shape responsible use across Durham County Council.
• Set the strategic direction for AI, develop governance framework, and identify where new technology improves services for residents and staff.
• Lead pilots, support scaling of successful solutions, and turn ideas into sustainable service improvements.
• Ensure AI adoption is lawful, ethical, transparent and aligned with information governance, cyber security and enterprise architecture.
