Job summary

Ipsum Utilities Limited in Henstridge is seeking a proactive Mechanical Storeman to support our Water business.

You will manage deliveries, stock control, and issue materials to project teams, while keeping a safe, well-organised stores environment.

A full UK driving licence is essential; HGV or forklift qualifications are desirable, and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Store Person, Storekeeper or Materials Controller.
• Experience in Water, Utilities, Civils, Construction or Infrastructure is advantageous.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and stock management systems.
• Full UK driving licence is essential; HGV, Digger and forklift qualifications are desirable; travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Receive, inspect and accurately record deliveries of materials, plant and equipment.
• Maintain stock control systems and ensure stock records are accurate and up to date.
• Issue materials, tools and equipment to operational teams and site personnel as required.
• Organise and maintain a safe, clean and efficient stores environment with secure storage.
• Complete regular stock counts, audits and manage goods-in/goods-out activities.
• Coordinate with Project Managers and Coordinators to ensure materials and plant are available when needed.
• Assist with servicing, repair and mobilisation of plant, equipment and company vehicles.
• Provide mobile support to operational crews during vehicle or plant breakdowns.
• Liaise with the Transport Manager to coordinate vehicle servicing and fleet readiness.
• Carry out supplier reviews to ensure cost-effectiveness and value for money.
• Adhere to all Health & Safety policies and procedures.

About the role…

We are looking for a proactive and organised Mechanical Storeman to support our Water business from our Henstridge depot. You will play a key role in ensuring materials, tools, plant and equipment are available, maintained and delivered efficiently to support operational teams, while maintaining a safe and well-managed stores environment.

As a Mechanical Storeman you will…

Receive, inspect and accurately record deliveries of materials, plant and equipment.

Maintain stock control systems and ensure inventory records remain accurate and up to date.

Issue materials, tools and equipment to operational teams and site personnel as required.

Organise and maintain a safe, clean and efficient stores environment, ensuring materials are stored securely and correctly.

Complete regular stock counts, audits and manage goods-in/goods-out activities.

Coordinate with Project Managers and Coordinators to ensure materials and plant are available when required for operational delivery.

Assist with the servicing, repair and mobilisation of plant, equipment and company vehicles.

Provide mobile support to operational crews during vehicle or plant breakdowns.

Liaise with the Transport Manager to coordinate vehicle servicing, repairs and fleet readiness.

Carry out supplier reviews to ensure purchasing remains cost-effective and delivers value for money.

Adhere to all company Health & Safety policies and procedures.

About you…

You will have previous experience working as a Store Person, Storekeeper, Materials Controller, or within a similar stores role. Experience within the Water, Utilities, Civils, Construction or Infrastructure sectors would be highly advantageous.

You'll possess strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records. You will be comfortable using Microsoft Office applications and stock management systems and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

A full UK driving licence is essential. HGV, Digger and Forklift qualifications are desirable, and you should be willing to travel regularly as part of the role.
