Job summary

Ferguson Transport & Shipping in Corpach, Fort William, is seeking a Stores Supervisor to oversee the workshop stores and ensure smooth operation. The role focuses on efficient stock management, safe storage, and timely service to workshop staff.

The successful candidate will supervise daily store activities, maintain stock levels, coordinate stocktakes, and liaise with suppliers to ensure quality and availability. IT literacy and strong communication are essential for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the day-to-day operation of the workshop stores to ensure an efficient service is provided to workshop staff.
  • Allocate and prioritise workloads within the stores function to meet operational requirements.
  • Provide support and guidance to Stores personnel, ensuring procedures are followed consistently.
  • Ensure workshop staff receive a prompt and professional service at the stores counter and in response to enquiries.
  • Maintain high standards of organisation and housekeeping throughout the stores.
  • Maintain accurate stock records and ensure inventory is controlled effectively. Establish and maintain appropriate minimum and maximum stock levels.
  • Plan and oversee regular stock counts, cycle counts and annual stocktakes.
  • Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies, implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Ensure stock is stored safely and in accordance with manufacturer and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain effective stock control at Kishorn, including regular site visits as required.
  • Source parts, consumables and materials at competitive prices while ensuring quality and availability.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers.
  • Monitor supplier performance in relation to cost, quality and delivery.

We have a new opportunity for a full time Stores Supervisor to join our Service & Maintenance Department, based in Corpach, Fort William.

About the job

This is a full-time position, ensuring the smooth running of the workshop stores.

The successful candidate should have:
  • Previous experience of working in a supervisory role within stores/warehouse environment is required. The ideal candidate must be self-motivated, organised, flexible and have excellent communication skills. Strong IT skills are essential.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, ensuring attention to detail and accuracy
  • Organisational skills with the ability to work within a time sensitive environment
  • A valid driving licence
