Job summary

Lanes Group PLC in North Wales is seeking a Stores Operative to join our Kinmel Bay yard and satellite depots. You will handle stock, support field teams, and help keep yards and stores well organised.

A full UK driving licence is essential; forklift and telehandler training available. The role is hands-on, outdoors/indoors, with emphasis on safety, accuracy, and teamwork across Caernarfon and Alltami sites.

Qualifications

• Experience in stores, warehouse or similar operational setting.
• Must hold a full UK driving licence.
• Strong communication and listening skills.
• Good IT ability, including accurate data entry.

Responsibilities

• Stock & materials management: receive stock requests, prepare job packs, check deliveries and report discrepancies.
• Operational support: maintain housekeeping standards, ensure safety policies are followed.
• General duties: support wider operations team and respond to daily needs.

Job description

We are delighted to share that we have secured a major new contract with Welsh Water, supporting the proactive and reactive maintenance of their Wastewater Network for the next four years and beyond.

To help deliver this exciting programme of work, we are looking for a Stores Operative to join our team in Kinmel Bay, plus our satellite depos within the region This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a busy operational environment, supporting multiple teams across North Wales while developing your skills and progressing your career.

About the Role

As part of our Stores Team, you will play a key role in providing essential support to field teams working from our Kinmel Bay yard, as well as maintaining stock and equipment across our Caernarfon and Alltami sites. You’ll work both indoors and outdoors in a hands‑on role where no two days are the same.

A full UK driving licence is essential, as travel between sites will sometimes be required. For the right candidate, we also offer the opportunity to train for Forklift and Telehandler licences.

Key Responsibilities

Your role will involve a variety of operational and stock‑management duties, including:

Stock & Materials Management

• Using handheld devices to receive stock requests and prepare job packs for team collection
• Accepting deliveries, checking quantities, and reporting any supplier discrepancies
• Handling materials safely and ensuring they are stored correctly within the yard and warehouse
• Carrying out regular stock counts and highlighting replenishment needs

Operational Support

• Maintaining excellent housekeeping standards across stores and yard areas
• Ensuring all health & safety policies are always followed
• Reporting potential safety issues promptly and in line with company procedures

General Duties

• Supporting the wider operations team as required
• Reacting quickly to changing business needs and daily deadlines

Experience & Skills Needed

We are looking for someone who can bring energy, organisation and a proactive approach to our busy stores environment. Ideally, you will have:

• Experience working in a stores, warehouse, or similar operational setting
• A full UK driving licence
• Strong communication and listening skills
• Good IT ability, including accurate data entry
• A team‑oriented attitude with the confidence to work independently
• The ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities
• A positive, hands‑on approach to manual work
