Overview

Ferguson Transport & Shipping are currently recruiting for a full time (40hrs) Stores Person based at Corpach, Fort William. Basic hourly rate of £14.08 plus an overtime rate of £16.45 per hour.

Responsibilities

The successful applicant will ensure the smooth running of the workshop stores, maintaining stock levels accurately and sourcing parts when required.

Previous stores experience and a knowledge of commercial components would be preferred, although this is not essential. Operating a forklift, once trained and competent will be a requirement for this role.

Duties will include:

  • Provide quality service while serving workshop staff at the service counter and in response to staff enquiries
  • Receive and check deliveries against orders, being aware of the nature and type of goods (chemical, biological and general consumables) used by the workshop staff and the implications with respect to safety, storage requirements of incoming items according to any special requirements and compliance with those requirements
  • Notifying staff of the arrival of goods
  • Maintain register of deliveries and complete regular stock checks
  • Follow up with staff and suppliers for goods incorrectly delivered
  • Travel off site to collect and deliver parts as required
  • Maintain and manage stock levels at Kishorn, visiting site as necessary
  • Search for and ensure best price for parts
  • To assist with year-end stock check
  • Forklift operations as required, when fully trained and certified
  • Manual handling of incoming goods and stock as required
  • Work with workshop staff to identify and resolve any ordering or receiving issues
  • Assist workshop staff as required
  • Organise stores while maintaining high housekeeping standards
