A leading company in construction services is seeking a reliable and well-organised Stores Person to support their team. The role includes managing materials for engineers, conducting quality checks, and maintaining inventory records. Ideal candidates should have relevant experience in building services and a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical components.
One of our clients are seeking a reliable and well-organised Stores Person to support our Engineers, Purchasing Department, and Contracts Managers.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the management and allocation of materials within our stores, ensuring smooth operations in a fast-paced building services environment.
This role requires strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical components, and experience in the construction or building services industry.
Key Responsibilities
Goods Inward:
Receive and inspect deliveries; notify the purchasing department upon receipt.
Perform quality checks on all incoming goods and parts.
Store goods in designated locations within the stores department.
Stock Control:
Maintain accurate inventory records, including returns and replenishment.
Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile inventory.
Assign codes to stock items for traceability.
Ensure full traceability of all materials and items.
Materials Issue:
Prepare and stage materials for engineers in advance of daily work.
Use stores requisition systems and maintain detailed records.
Monitor and control specialist tools and equipment.
Deliver materials and equipment as needed.
General Duties:
Answer telephone calls to the stores.
Provide counter service to personnel collecting items.
Keep stores clean, tidy, and safe.
Quality, Health, and Safety:
Participate in safety tours, assessments, and audits.
Help develop and maintain operational procedures.
Safely store gas bottles in compliance with legislation.
Manage COSHH data sheets and advise the H&S Advisor accordingly.
Assist in the management of waste materials, including packaging and scrap.
Support continuous improvement initiatives.
Adhere to all company safety policies and legal vehicle operation standards.
Qualifications:
GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C or above).
NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing and Heating (desirable but not essential).
Key Skills:
Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical repair/installation components.
Experience in the construction/building services sector.
Ability to meet deadlines in a busy environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Ability to multitask and work independently.
