Job summary

Smiley Monroe Inc in Lisburn is seeking a Stores Operative to ensure smooth flow of materials by receiving, inspecting and storing goods in line with production schedules.

You will maintain FIFO, support production, perform cycle counts and keep accurate stock records using ERP/inventory systems. A valid forklift license and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a stores or goods-in role within a manufacturing or warehouse setting.
  • Physically capable of lifting moderate to heavy weights in accordance with safe manual handling procedures.
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage time effectively, and meet daily operational schedules in a fast-paced environment.
  • Computer literate with experience using ERP or inventory management systems for goods receipt and stock control.
  • Valid forklift license with hands-on experience operating counterbalance and/or reach trucks.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, taking initiative to solve problems and maintain workflow with minimal supervision.
  • Adaptable and proactive in responding to shifting priorities, changing workloads, or urgent business needs.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in checking, documenting, and inspecting incoming goods to ensure quality and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and unload incoming deliveries in compliance with safety standards.
  • Inspect deliveries and packaging for damage and verify contents against POs and quality standards.
  • Store goods in designated locations and ensure FIFO principles.
  • Deliver received goods to internal departments and issue consumables with accurate stock records.
  • Monitor Kanban inventory systems and trigger re-orders based on minimum stock levels and usage.
  • Issue materials to production per schedule and coordinate with planning to ensure timely delivery.
  • Perform regular cycle counts and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Complete inventory system transactions to reflect stock movement.
  • Carry out other duties to support business and team performance.

About the role:

TheStores Operative plays a key role in ensuring the smooth flow of materials intothe business by receiving, inspecting, and storing incoming goods accuratelyand efficiently. This position supports production by preparing and issuingmaterials in line with the production schedule, maintaining inventory accuracy,and managing stock of consumables through Kanban systems. A strong focus onsafety, quality, and organisation is essential to ensure compliance withcompany standards and to support a clean, efficient, and responsive storesenvironment.

What you’ll be doing:
Receiving & Inspection:
  • Receive and unload incoming deliveries in compliance with company and regulatory safety standards.
  • Inspect deliveries and packaging for damage and verify contents against purchase orders and quality standards.
  • Check delivery documentation for accuracy and elevate any discrepancies or damages promptly.
  • Store goods and materials in designated locations while ensuring compliance with material handling and storage guidelines.
  • Ensure FIFO (First In, First Out) principles are followed.
  • Deliver received goods to appropriate internal departments or store areas as required.
  • Issue consumables to internal departments as required and maintain accurate stock records to reflect issued quantities.
  • Monitor and maintain Kanban inventory systems to ensure timely replenishment, triggering re-orders in line with minimum stock levels and usage trends
Production Support:
  • Issue materials to production teams in line with the daily and weekly production schedule.
  • Co-ordinate with production planning to ensure materials are available and delivered to the right location at the right time.
Inventory Control:
  • Perform regular cycle counts and assist in maintaining accurate inventory records.
  • Complete inventory system transactions accurately and in a timely manner to reflect stock movement.
Safety & Housekeeping:
  • Actively follow site safety procedures and contribute to risk assessments, toolbox talks and safety audits.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and hazard-free Goods In area in line with company housekeeping.
General:
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities aimed at enhancing accuracy, efficiency and safety within the Company.
  • Carry out other related duties as directed to support the business and team performance.
