Job summary

Comex 2000 is recruiting a Stores Operative to support field engineering teams across the West Midlands. This role goes beyond a traditional warehouse position, focusing on stock control, yard management, and ensuring materials are ready for on-site works.

You’ll join a busy, hands-on team that values reliability, organisation, and accuracy, helping to keep deliveries on track and stock integrity intact while collaborating with Planning, Purchasing, and Operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in stores/warehouse/logistics is required.
• Be methodical and well organised with sharp attention to detail.
• Capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Hands-on approach with a strong work ethic.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Basic IT skills including MS Office and Excel.
• Forklift licence is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain stock levels of materials and equipment for field activities.
• Record stock movements in real time.
• Carry out monthly stock audits and ensure accuracy.
• Organise incoming materials from suppliers and check counts.
• Prepare materials for use as required by operations.
• Assist with loading/unloading vehicles for civils and cable gangs.
• Keep yard and warehouse clean, organised and safe.
• Monitor stock levels and escalate shortages as needed.
• Collaborate with Planning, Purchasing and Operations to keep works on track.
• Prepare and dispatch shipments with right-first-time deliveries.
• Complete paperwork and liaise with couriers/third parties.
• Control and issue plant and line equipment.
• Maintain site security to protect stock integrity.
• Follow health & safety procedures and report risks.

What you’ll be doing

• Maintain stock levels of materials and equipment to support field engineering activities

Requirements

About you

• Experience working in a stores, warehouse, or logistics environment
  
• Methodical and organised, with strong attention to detail
  
• Able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting
  
• Hands-on approach with a strong work ethic
  
• Good communication skills and able to work as part of a team
  
• Basic IT skills, including MS Office / Excel
