Job summary

P+S Personnel is seeking a Stores Manager for a 6-month fixed-term contract in Great Yarmouth. The role leads the stores team, ensuring accurate inventory, lean processes and compliance with HSE and quality standards.

You will manage stock accuracy, participate in stock takes, and drive continuous improvement across materials management within a lean manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in warehouse, stores, logistics or materials management.
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience.
• Strong experience in inventory control and warehouse processes.
• Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
• Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
• Ability to obtain SC Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Manage inventory accuracy and stock integrity across materials and finished goods.
• Lead cycle counts and annual stocktakes; investigate discrepancies.
• Collaborate with Planning and Procurement to optimise stock levels.
• Ensure timely material release, kitting and replenishment for production.

P+S Personnel are pleased to be working on behalf of our client, who is currently looking for a Stores Manager on a full-time, for a 6-month fixed term contract in Great Yarmouth.

Job Summary:

The Stores Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient and compliant management of inventory, warehousing, goods in and kitting activities, ensuring materials are available to support production plans while maintaining high standard of accuracy, quality and service. The role leads the Stores team and drives effective materials management, operational discipline and continuous improvement within a lean manufacturing environment.

Main Responsibilities:

• Manage inventory accuracy, stock integrity and control across raw materials, WIP, sub-assemblies, consumables and finished goods.
• Lead cycle counts and annual stocktakes, investigating discrepancies and implementing corrective actions.
• Work with Planning and Procurement to optimise stock levels and reduce excess and obsolete inventory.
• Ensure timely material release, kitting and replenishment to support production requirements.
• Manage goods-in processes, ensuring accurate receipt, inspection, verification and storage of incoming materials.
• Maintain material traceability and effective material flow throughout the stores operation.
• Lead, coach and develop the Stores team, setting clear performance standards and promoting accountability.
• Conduct performance reviews, identify training needs and develop multi-skilled capability across the team.
• Maintain a safe, organised and efficient warehouse environment in line with 5S, HSE, quality and security requirements.
• Support audits and corrective actions while ensuring appropriate material handling, storage and traceability standards.
• Drive improvements and monitor key stores KPIs including inventory accuracy, stock count accuracy, kit release, OTIF support and goods-in performance.
• Drive Lean and continuous improvement initiatives to improve inventory accuracy, material flow and operational efficiency.
• Identify and eliminate waste, inefficiencies and inventory risks through structured improvement projects.

Person Specification:

• Previous experience in warehouse, stores, logistics or materials management, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience with responsibility for developing and managing teams.
• Strong experience in inventory control, stock management and warehouse processes.
• Experience using ERP/MRP systems and supporting manufacturing operations.
• Good understanding of materials handling, inventory transactions and material flow.
• Experience applying Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement principles.
• Experience within electronics, engineering, defence, aerospace or other regulated industries is desirable.
• Strong leadership, people management and performance improvement skills.
• Excellent planning, organisation and attention to detail, with a data-driven approach to decision making.
• Strong problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and corrective action.
• Effective communication and relationship-building skills across Production, Procurement, Planning and Quality.
• Proactive approach to identifying inefficiencies and delivering continuous improvement.
• SC Security Clearance or the ability to obtain clearance.

Working Hours:

• Monday to Friday.
• 37.5 hours per week.
• Mon-Thur 08:00-16:30, Fri 08:00-13:30
