Job summary

Select Appointments is recruiting a Stores Person in Norwich for a permanent role within a busy engineering operations environment. You will manage stock control, stores operations, and dispatch, ensuring accurate goods-in and orderly warehouse workflow.

You will log deliveries against orders, rotate stock on a FIFO basis, pick and pack items for internal teams or customer orders, and help load delivery vehicles while keeping the ERP or stock system up to date.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with stock control systems and basic computer literacy.
• Familiarity with forklift equipment and pallet jacks.
• Ability to perform manual tasks including lifting and standing for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Goods-in checks: verify deliveries against orders, log in inventory system.
• Warehouse organisation: store stock in correct locations, rotate stock FIFO.
• Order fulfilment: pick, pack, stage items, assist loading vehicles, keep ERP updated.

Are you organised, hands-on, and take real pride in a well-run operations environment? Our client - a well-established Engineering business based in Norwich, is on the hunt for an experienced Stores Person to take the reins on stock control, stores operations, and dispatch.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy, hands-on operation where no two days are quite the same, and where your attention to detail will genuinely make a difference.

What You'll Be Doing

• Goods-in checks - Match incoming deliveries against purchase orders or invoices, confirm quantities and condition, flag any damage, and log everything into the inventory system
• Warehouse organisation - Store stock in the right spots, stack it securely, keep labels current, and rotate stock on a first-in-first-out basis
• Order fulfilment - Pick, pack, and stage items for internal teams or customer orders, help load delivery vehicles, and keep the ERP or stock system up to date
• Stock accuracy - Keep records tight, take part in periodic stock counts, and flag any shortfalls or mismatches quickly
• General upkeep - Keep the storage areas tidy, and help look after equipment and vehicles
• Health & safety - Stick to safety protocols, wear the right protective gear, and always follow company procedure

Skills and Experience

• Proficiency in stock control software and basic computer literacy
• Familiarity with forklifts or pallet jacks
• Ability to perform manual tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
• A sharp eye for detail, reliability, strong communication skills, a team-player attitude, and solid ethical standards
