Job description

Stores Assistant

Location: Harlow

Salary: £28,000-£31,000 per annum

Term: Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am-5.30pm

Our client supplies premium hire equipment for high-end events and leading brands. They are looking for a practical, enthusiastic Stores Assistant to join their team, helping ensure every item leaves the warehouse in excellent condition, and is exactly what the client ordered.

This is a varied, hands-on role combining equipment preparation, quality checks, stock control and light repairs. You'll suit this position if you enjoy getting stuck in, take pride in your work and can spot what needs doing without always waiting for instructions.

With the business growing, there is scope to take on more responsibility and potentially progress into supervisory positions or opportunities within logistics and operations.

The role of Stores Assistant:
  • Prepare equipment ahead of events, checking that everything is clean, complete and ready for dispatch.
  • Inspect items carefully, ensuring they meet the high standards expected by clients.
  • Check equipment back in after events, recording quantities and identifying damage or missing items.
  • Clean, carry out minor repairs and return equipment to its correct storage location.
  • Assemble and dismantle equipment using basic tools, with occasional sanding, painting and touch-up work.
  • Maintain accurate stock records and help keep the warehouses organised and ready for busy periods.
To be successful in the role of Stores Assistant:
  • Use your initiative, notice what needs doing and take a proactive approach.
  • Be keen to learn, develop practical skills and take on new responsibilities.
  • Have good attention to detail and take pride in keeping equipment in excellent condition.
  • Be comfortable using basic tools, such as an electric screwdriver — practical ability similar to assembling flat-pack furniture would be ideal.
  • Work well within a team, with a reliable and helpful approach.
  • Stay organised during busy periods and make good use of quieter times to prepare for upcoming events.
The salary and package for the Stores Assistant role:
  • Basic salary of £28,000-£31,000.
  • Monday to Friday, 8.30am-5.30pm.
  • Varied work within the events industry.
  • Opportunities to develop and progress as the business grows.
