Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to maintain a clean, customer-first store and assist with supervision of staff, merchandising, and deposits. The role involves cash handling, training, and ensuring policy compliance in a fast-paced retail environment.

You will help open/close the store, manage scheduling, and support the Store Manager in operations and loss prevention. Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Proven ability to lead a team and deliver strong customer service.
• Experience with cash handling and POS systems.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage store operations and deposits.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers, and operate cash register and scanner.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees, providing adequate training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Follow work processes to manage merchandise including receiving, stocking, and displays.
• Assist in maintaining inventory levels by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, and paperwork.
• Assist in planograms implementation and ensure merchandise presentation aligns with standards.
• Assist in ensuring financial integrity through cashier accountability and deposits; count tills and sign for refunds/overrides.
• Assist with management of the store in the Store Manager's absence.
