Please note that this role is a 37.5-hour contract, and weekend availability is required.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE JOB

The Shop Manager holds overall responsibility for their shop. This includes taking ownership and initiative to drive performance through managing KPIs, ensuring customers have the best shopping experience, developing the team, and ensuring White Stuff's presence in the local community.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

You will report to your Area Manager and be part of our Retail team.

Customer Experience
  • Training, driving, and coaching the team to deliver an exceptional in-store customer experience aligned with our pillars: Be Friendly, Be Valuable, Be Inspiring.
  • Ensuring the team meets customer needs through multichannel shopping and endless aisle orders.
  • Engaging customers with our brand via email newsletter sign-ups, purchase tagging, and e-receipts.
Product Presentation and Visual Standards
  • Regularly evaluating floor layout and sales trends, and taking action to optimize the shop floor.
  • Ensuring the team understands product features to support customer styling and purchasing decisions.
  • Maintaining excellent product and shop standards at all times.
  • Implementing brand VM standards and layouts, making placement decisions suited to the shop, market, and customer.
  • Creating a commercial environment where the team evaluates KPIs and responds to commercial opportunities.
  • Feeding back on product packaging and commercial opportunities to the Area Manager.
  • Optimizing stock levels for sales opportunities and liaising with Merchandising.
Commercial Management
  • Understanding and maximizing commercial opportunities to increase sales, coaching the team accordingly.
  • Managing the shop within set budgets.
  • Coordinating promotions, incentives, and key trading weeks.
People Management and Development
  • Using provided tools to develop the team's knowledge and skills, helping them reach their potential.
  • Creating a positive team atmosphere focused on results.
  • Leading team briefs to ensure knowledge and motivation.
  • Effective staff planning to ensure appropriate coverage.
  • Setting team objectives and fostering collaboration.
  • Recruiting and retaining high-caliber team members.
  • Engaging in succession planning to develop internal talent.
  • Seeking local opportunities such as community events.
  • Providing regular praise and feedback for engagement and development.
  • Leading annual and interim reviews with monitored objectives.
Shop Operations
  • Leading efficient delivery and replenishment processes.
  • Organizing stocktakes and ensuring accurate reconciliation.
  • Managing ship-from-store and Click & Collect processes.
  • Acting as a point of contact for stakeholders.
  • Leading health and safety compliance.
  • Building relationships with other teams and business areas.
Doing Good Stuff
  • Living our values in the shop.
  • Supporting charity events and promotions.
  • Understanding and explaining our approach to ethical sourcing and environmental impact.
