Job summary

British Heart Foundation in Straiton is seeking a Warehouse Assistant for a full-time 35‑hour week across 7 days, including weekends and bank holidays. You will sort donations, prepare items for sale, and help move furniture and appliances behind the scenes, ensuring stock is well managed.

Qualifications

• Previous retail experience isn’t essential.
• You’ll be confident working within a team and able to guide the activity of volunteers
• You’ll work well under pressure and on your own initiative in a dynamic and fast‑paced environment
• Attention to detail in everything you do
• Comfortable with a high level of hands on manual work that involves moving large items/volumes of stock

Responsibilities

• Organising donated items and preparing them for sale / Handling and moving the delivery of furniture and appliances that arrive in our stores
• Ensuring the shop floor is always well stocked
• Working in line with safety regulations and promoting health, safety and wellbeing in everything you do
• Identifying unsaleable donations for recycling
• Keeping the stockroom organised and tidy
