Job summary

Yusen Logistics (UK) Ltd in Northampton is seeking a Stock Integrity and Inventory Operations Manager for our Sustainable Distribution Centre (NN7 2QA) to lead inventory governance across Ambient and Pharmaceutical operations. You will drive cycle counting, audits, and KPI delivery, develop policies, ensure GDP/MHRA compliance, and report to senior leaders while building a high-performing team.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Significant experience leading inventory/stock integrity in a large-scale distribution or logistics environment.
  • Experience managing inventory operations across multi-temperature or highly regulated environments.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy levels; strong Excel/data analysis skills.
  • Experience with GDP/MHRA considerations for pharmaceutical inventory controls (where applicable).

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership across all inventory management functions within Ambient and Pharmaceutical chambers.
  • Ensure inventory-related KPIs, SLAs and contractual obligations are met or exceeded.
  • Own inventory accuracy, conduct cycle counting, stock reconciliation and annual stock audits.
  • Develop and maintain inventory control policies and procedures for best practice.
  • Report performance to senior leadership, customers and stakeholders; lead regular inventory meetings.

The role has strategic accountability for inventory governance across both Ambient and Pharmaceutical operations, managing customer relationships, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and leading a high-performing team to deliver industry-leading stock accuracy and service levels.Key Responsibilities1. Stock Integrity & Inventory Governancea. Provide strategic leadership and governance across all inventory management functions within the Ambient and Pharmaceutical chambers.b. Ensure all inventory-related KPIs, SLAs and contractual obligations are consistently achieved or exceeded.c. Own inventory accuracy performance across the site, maintaining stock integrity within agreed customer tolerances and regulatory requirements.d. Lead cycle counting, stock reconciliation, inventory investigations and annual stock audits.e. Monitor, analyse and report on all stock loss, damage, discrepancies and inventory adjustments, ensuring robust root cause analysis and preventative actions are implemented.f. Develop and maintain inventory control frameworks, policies and procedures that support best practice and operational excellence.g. Ensure compliance with GDP, MHRA requirements and customer-specific pharmaceutical inventory controls where applicable.h. Provide regular performance reporting and insight to senior leadership teams, customers and key stakeholders.2. Customer Relationshipa. Establish and maintain good customer relationships both internal and external, acting as the key customer contact for the Inventory department.b. Act as the senior point of contact for all inventory-related customer matters.c. Lead regular inventory meetings to review performance and issues, providing accurate data in accordance with customer expectations.3. Team Leadershipa. Lead, develop and support the Inventory team, ensuring appropriate training, performance management and succession planning are in place.b. Maintain accurate departmental structures, role profiles and workforce plans.c. Communicate business objectives and company updates effectively, promoting engagement and continuous feedback.d. Support employee wellbeing and ensure fair, consistent application of company policies and procedures.e. Assist with investigations, disciplinary and grievance processes as required.f. Foster a positive, high-performing culture focused on accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.4. Health and Safetya. Ensure all health and safety procedures are adhered to, including PPE, taking appropriate action where procedures are not being adhered to or could be improved.b. Maintain and update site Risk Assessments, Safe, System of Work and working instructions.5. Continuous Improvementa. Continuously look to improve processes and procedures to drive efficiency and improvement in business operation and customer service.b. Development of other logistics revenue opportunities with the customer.c.
