Job summary

Yolk Recruitment seeks a Stock Controller for an established FMCG manufacturing business with sites across South Wales. The role focuses on inventory accuracy, ERP system usage, stock movements, cycle counting, reporting and process improvement, working closely with Finance and Production teams.

The ideal candidate will have stock control or materials experience, strong Excel skills, and comfort working in both production and warehouse environments to improve processes and reduce discrepancies.

Qualifications

• Experience in stock controller or similar role.
• Experience in FMCG/manufacturing preferred.
• Excel proficiency with large data sets.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload.

Responsibilities

• Lead and organise monthly stock takes and reconcile against ERP data.
• Coordinate daily and weekly cycle counts, investigate variances.
• Monitor stock movements and maintain accurate records across systems.
• Investigate stock discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
• Validate delivery notes and ensure ERP transactions are recorded.
• Audit BOM and item accuracy with stakeholders.
• Develop tools, reports and processes to improve data accuracy.
• Coach colleagues to ensure stock process compliance.
• Act as liaison for Finance on stock transactions and locations.
• Develop waste-by-work-order reporting and share findings with teams.
• Collaborate across Production, Warehouse and Finance to maintain stock accuracy.

Stock Controller

Up to £41,00 DOE

Yolk Recruitment are supporting the recruitment of a Stock Controller to join an established FMCG manufacturing business with sites across South Wales. This is a hands‑on stock control role focused on inventory accuracy, ERP systems, stock movements, cycle counting, reporting and process improvement, working closely with Finance, Production, Warehouse and other teams across the business.

This is a great opportunity for someone with previous stock control, inventory control or materials experience, ideally within an FMCG or manufacturing environment, who is confident using Excel and comfortable working across both production and warehouse areas.

As Stock Controller, you will take ownership of stock accuracy throughout the flow of materials, from goods in and production through to goods out and third-party warehouses. You'll monitor stock movements, investigate discrepancies, maintain accurate records and work with colleagues across the business to improve processes and reduce stock inaccuracies.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and organise the monthly stock take, including reconciling physical stock counts against the ERP system.
• Coordinate and complete daily and weekly cycle counts, investigating and reporting stock variances.
• Monitor daily stock movements and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Investigate stock discrepancies, identify root causes and ensure corrective actions are completed.
• Validate delivery notes daily and ensure transactions are accurately recorded within the ERP system.
• Audit BOM and item accuracy, identifying and correcting discrepancies with relevant stakeholders.
• Develop and improve stock control tools, reports and processes to improve data accuracy and traceability.
• Identify non-conformance with stock processes and confidently challenge, coach and train colleagues where required.
• Act as the first point of contact for Finance regarding stock transactions, stock flows and stock locations.
• Develop and review waste‑by‑work‑order reporting and communicate findings to relevant teams.
• Work closely with Production, Warehouse, Finance and other departments to maintain high standards of stock accuracy.

This is what you'll need:

• Previous experience in a Stock Controller, Stock Control, Inventory Controller, Materials Controller or similar role.
• Ideally, experience within FMCG or a wider manufacturing environment.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas and working with large amounts of data.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload.
