Stephens Bakery in Kirkcaldy is seeking a Senior Retail Assistant on a 30-hour contract. You’ll lead daily shop routines, support your team, and deliver excellent service while upholding our customer‑first values.

You’ll work weekday and weekend shifts, take responsibility for tills, stock and cleanliness, and contribute to a warm, inviting store environment that puts people first.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily shop routines from open to close.
• Run shifts, delegating tasks clearly and fairly.
• Support Shop/Assistant Manager during shifts.
• Tackle small issues independently and escalate when needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, welcoming environment for customers and colleagues.
• Serve customers alongside the team delivering excellent service.
• Ensure the shop is well‑presented and stocked throughout the day.
• Complete daily checks and paperwork to stay compliant and safe.
• Manage opening/closing duties, tills, cash handling and stock control.

Please note: This role requires weekday and weekend availability and is therefore not suitable for those in full-time education.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Retail Assistant, you’re the face of Stephens - serving up smiles alongside our delicious baked goods on every shift. You’ll help bring our values to life by delivering excellent service, supporting your teammates, and approaching every day with positivity and energy.

• Lead daily shop routines and ensure smooth trading from open to close.
• Run shifts with confidence, delegating tasks fairly and clearly.
• Support your Shop or Assistant Manager during shifts.
• Tackle small issues independently and escal... when needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for customers and colleagues.
• Serve customers alongside your team, setting the standard for excellent service.
• Ensure the shop is well‑presented, stocked, and inviting throughout the day.
• Complete daily checks and paperwork to keep everything compliant and safe.
• Manage opening and closing duties, tills, cash handling, stock control, and waste management.
