Job summary

Stephens Bakery is seeking an Assistant Manager for a 30-hour contract in Dunfermline. You will lead the shop team on shift, deliver excellent customer service, and ensure high-quality products and a welcoming, safe environment.

You’ll handle rota planning, daily checks, cash handling, and stock management while supporting team development and maintaining company standards. Weekday and weekend availability is required; part-time education not suited.

Responsibilities

• Lead the shop team during shifts, setting the pace and keeping the team focused.
• Involvement in rota planning and resolving short-term cover issues in shop.
• Support with team performance and development.
• Be an approachable leader, supporting the team through busy periods and challenges.
• Model high standards of customer service, teamwork and professionalism.
• Train new starters and provide guidance to others.
• Serve customers alongside the team and deliver excellent service.
• Keep the shop welcoming, clean, and well-stocked with fresh products.
• Ensure adherence to food safety, health & safety, and company policies.
• Carry out daily checks and paperwork to keep the shop compliant and safe.
• Manage opening/closing duties, till processes, and cash handling; support ordering, stock rotation and waste control.
• Promote teamwork and a positive atmosphere, addressing issues early.

As an Assistant Manager at Stephens Bakery, you are a key leader in the shop. You take responsibility for leading the team day to day, ensuring the shop runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently. Each day you will help deliver great customer service, high-quality products, and a positive, motivated team.At Stephens, our values guide everything we do — putting the customer first, showing a can-do attitude, and being stronger together as a team. Please note: This role requires weekday and weekend availability and is therefore not suitable for those in full-time education.

What You’ll Be Doing

As an Assistant Manager you’re the face of Stephens - serving up smiles alongside our delicious baked goods on every shift. You’ll help bring our values to life by delivering excellent service, supporting your teammates, and approaching every day with positivity and energy.

• Lead the shop team during your shifts—setting the pace, making decisions, and keeping everyone focused.
