Job Description:
Responsibilities
- Developing a strategy for design integration and preparing updates to the Design Management Plan and Interface Management Plan to record the agreed strategy.
- Leading the Design Team implementation of the strategy for design integration and ensuring consultancy workstreams are linked to Subcontract works packages.
- Monitoring and reporting progress and status on design integration and interfaces effectively to the wider project on behalf of the Design Team.
- Ensuring Design Interface Managers apply the Interface Management Plan consistently to develop the scope for Subcontractor design interfaces and engage with the wider project team.
- Applying the stakeholder model review procedure and making decisions on WSP actions, such as assessments to inform technical change workstreams.
- Applying the Interface Management Plan for detailed design and Subcontractor design interfaces.
- Presenting the design integration strategy to the Design Team, WSP, the wider project team, including HS2, Network Rail, and interfacing rail system contractors.
- Continuously improving the strategy for design integration and associated processes, developing improvement measures, and leading their implementation.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A Degree in Engineering or relevant subject, with professional institution membership.
- Experience on civil engineering or building projects in the UK with railway system interfaces.
- Experience in a design management role involving stakeholder engagement, including interfacing designers, asset owners/operators, and subcontractor designers.
- Experience in line management of design/technical managers.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Desirable Attributes:
- Experience supporting systems integration activities.
- Experience applying NEC conditions of contract.
- Experience with model exchanges with third-party designers in a common data environment.
- Experience using CEMAR or Eb systems.
- Additional professional recognition (e.g., Chartered / Fellow) or management qualification.
