Job summary

Stantec in Glasgow is offering a Degree Apprentice (Level 6) in Civil Engineering. You will work on hands-on projects, learn CAD/Civil 3D and GIS, and participate in a structured apprenticeship alongside experienced engineers.

The programme lasts 5 years with 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and day-release college modules at Strathclyde University and Edinburgh Napier. Closes Dec 2026.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English at grade 5/6 (B) or above.
• BBC including Mathematics and an Analytical Science at grade B or above.
• Interest in civil engineering and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed drawings and technical models for crucial infrastructure projects.
• Train in CAD (AutoCAD Civil 3D) and GIS to map, model, and visualize solutions.

We have an opportunity for a Degree Apprentice (Level 6) Civil Engineer to join our Apprentice Programme in our Civil Engineering team based in Glasgow.

This exciting opportunity will provide you with hands-on experience and academic qualifications to launch a successful career in civil engineering.

Work

As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you'll do at work

Dive into the hands-on world of Civil Engineering design.

• You'll be producing detailed drawings and technical models for crucial infrastructure projects
• You'll be trained to master powerful industry software such as Computer Aided Design (CAD), especially AutoCAD Civil 3D, and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) to accurately map, model, and visualize solutions
• Contribute to innovative and sustainable solutions-from concept to delivery
• You'll assist Senior Engineers across the entire project lifecycle, working closely with multidisciplinary experts, including Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, to ensure that we are always delivering the most innovative and efficient solution for our clients

Training

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.
