Job summary

Industrial Light & Magic is seeking a StageCraft Motion Capture Technical Director in London to operate and support the mocap system across shoots and data processing. The role requires hands-on expertise with real-time tools and a strong eye for human movement.

On-site, full-time position. You will work with Vicon Shogun, Xsens, and Maya, troubleshoot complex setups, and ensure production stays on schedule under live-action pressure.

Qualifications

• On-set/Post experience with Vicon or other optical mocap systems.
• On-set/Post experience with inertial mocap systems (Xsens).
• Experience using Vicon Shogun and Xsens for mocap in film/TV/games.
• Knowledge of realtime technology and virtual production toolset.
• Proficient in tracking and solving mocap data.
• Good knowledge of Maya.
• Strong attention to detail in human movement.
• On-set production experience preferred.
• Must execute technically difficult work under live-action pressure.
• Must have knowledge of film production.
• Familiar with video hardware and signals.
• Familiar with Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Excellent troubleshooter for complex integrated systems.
• Familiar with VFX/film production concepts.

Responsibilities

• Operate and support the motion capture system throughout shoots.
• Assist mocap data processing and clean-up.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues on set.
• Work closely with StageCraft supervisor and production team.
• Maintain high-quality motion data and ensure deadlines.

• Under the direction of the StageCraft Motion Capture Supervisor, the Mocap TD will operate and support the motion capture system throughout virtual production shoots and during mocap data processing.

• Proven experience in motion capture for film, television, and games, specifically utilizing Vicon Shogun and Xsens.
• Knowledge of realtime technology and virtual production toolset required
• Proficient in tracking and solving motion capture data.
• A good knowledge of Maya
• Strong attention to detail, particularly regarding human movement
• On-set production experience preferred
• Must be able to execute technically difficult work and maintain a productive attitude under the pressure of live-action production.
• Must have knowledge of film production.
• Familiarity with video hardware and signals preferred.
• Must be highly computer literate with Linux and Windows Operating Systems.
• Must be an excellent troubleshooter to diagnose and solve issues in complex integrated systems of computers, video recording systems, software, and other sensor-driven systems.
• Familiar with a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures used in visual effects and film production.
• This role is On-site, which means the employee is required to work full-time on-site at a Company designated location
