Job summary

Wayve is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for Storage Platform in London. You will set technical direction for petabyte-scale data storage, build production services, and collaborate across Infrastructure, Security, Privacy and ML teams.

The role demands hands-on coding, architecture, and mentorship to scale our data platform as we grow across regions and clouds. You’ll work in a hybrid model from our London office, contribute to security controls, and help optimize data movement and access

Qualifications

• Hands-on software engineering with Python/Go and production Kubernetes
• Experience building scalable data/storage platforms across regions
• Ability to mentor engineers and influence technical direction

Responsibilities

• Lead a multi-quarter storage programme from problem definition to adoption
• Build production services and infrastructure with Python/Go, Kubernetes, Terraform
• Collaborate with ML and data teams on access patterns and performance bottlenecks
• Strengthen data security, auditing, and safe deletion of vehicle-collected data
• Write design docs and RFCs, align teams, and grow the platform and team
• Define data ownership, retention, and cost attribution
• Implement lifecycle management for Azure Blob with audit trails and recovery paths
• Improve read performance and caching, reduce cross-region hops
• Design Kubernetes-native NVMe caching and secure data movement
• Establish dashboards and SLOs for availability and cost
