Job summary

Wayve is seeking a senior backend engineer to join the Data Enrichment Platform Team in a hybrid London-based role. You will design and operate backend services, data-processing workflows and model-execution pipelines, enabling scalable inference and robust model monitoring.

You will collaborate across model engineering, infrastructure and data teams to deliver reusable capabilities, improve observability, and drive cost-efficient solutions for petabyte-scale data and GPU-backed workloads.

Qualifications

• Strong production software-engineering experience in Python
• Experience designing, building or operating distributed data-intensive systems
• Proven ability to deliver reliable software from design to production
• Good system-design fundamentals and ability to trade off complexities

Responsibilities

• Design, build and operate backend services, APIs and data-processing workflows for the Data Enrichment Platform.
• Develop model-execution workflows, versioned outputs, annotation capabilities and dataset-catalogue features.
• Improve scalability and reliability for large-scale inference, automated evaluation and model monitoring.
• Investigate and resolve reliability, performance and cost issues across petabyte-scale data and GPU workloads.
• Contribute to data locality, scheduling, capacity, backpressure, failure recovery and observability designs.
• Collaborate with model engineering, AI Platform, infrastructure, compute, storage and data teams to deliver reusable capabilities.
• Write maintainable, tested and observable software while improving documentation and tooling.
