Job summary
Shearwater GeoServices is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our Gatwick-based team. You will lead in-depth C++ development for the Reveal platform, collaborating with HPC and research teams, and steering architectural decisions and software quality across the lifecycle.
The role emphasizes expert C++ skills, high-performance computing, and leadership to guide engineers and deliver reliable, scalable software in a collaborative environment.
Qualifications
- Expert-level C++ experience with a strong emphasis on memory management, concurrency and performance.
- Background in HPC and parallel computing (MPI, OpenMP, CUDA, cluster/job scheduling).
- Proven technical leadership—guide engineers, make architectural decisions and communicate with stakeholders.
- Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with ability to work independently and take ownership.
- Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical teams.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve the Reveal software platform across development, research and infrastructure teams.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers across the team.
- Contribute to architectural decisions, design reviews and stakeholder engagement throughout the software lifecycle.
