Job summary

DeepL is seeking a Senior Developer Experience Engineer to own substantial parts of the Developer Experience mandate. You will coordinate workflows from local development through review to release, while guiding AI-enabled tooling across the lifecycle.

You will collaborate with multiple engineering teams, mentor engineers, and shape platforms like Backstage, GitLab, and Kubernetes to improve productivity and reliability for DeepL's global engineering efforts.

Qualifications

Software engineering experience in any language with depth in at least one.
Experience shipping to external customers within a product team.
Genuine passion for developer experience and release engineering.
Interest in AI-enabled developer tooling and experimentation.
Track record of technical ownership spanning several teams.
Judgement to trade the ideal solution for one you can ship and iterate.

Responsibilities

Own technical direction for a significant part of the Developer Experience mandate and remove friction for engineers.
Lead initiatives to lift developer productivity across multiple engineering teams.
Design and build workflows and tooling through the SDLC from local development to release.
Lead work on AI across the lifecycle and build safe guardrails at scale.
Treat internal developers as customers and grow a community around developer experience.
Define standards and drive migrations with a workable path for teams.
