Job summary

Preply is seeking a Staff Platform Product Manager to own the product strategy for platform capabilities that cut developer friction, improve reliability, and accelerate delivery. You’ll shape platform as a product and define paved paths used by engineering teams, while translating constraints into clear decisions and measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Strong product thinking with technical literacy in software engineering, developer tooling, or systems.
• Experience with highly technical internal products (platforms, tooling, infra, or developer-facing systems).
• Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity and conflicting priorities.
• Proven ability to challenge priorities and drive alignment across internal stakeholders.
• Bias for leverage, defaults, and standards to unlock creativity through standardization.
• Solid understanding of cloud platforms, distributed systems, and related trade-offs.
• Ability to review technical RFCs and architecture proposals at a high level.
• Nice-to-have: prior hands-on software engineering or engineering management background.

Responsibilities

• Maintain product charters for platform products, including users, problem statements, non-goals, and success metrics.
• Define and own the vision, roadmap, and OKRs for core platform capabilities.
• Identify and prioritize developer pain points using qualitative and quantitative signals with impact focus.
• Translate platform needs into clear product requirements and priorities.
• Collaborate with engineering to evaluate trade-offs and promote scalable platform standards.
• Define and track success metrics like developer productivity, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Align platform investments with growth and scaling goals.
• Run discovery through developer interviews, Dev Experience surveys, and platform metrics (e.g. DORA).
• Lead migrations and deprecations with empathy and clarity.
• Work closely with EMs and Staff+ engineers, embedded with engineering teams.
