Job summary

Preply is seeking a Software Platform Engineer to blend software engineering with cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, storage, and observability. You’ll own mission-critical services, build automation, and collaborate with product teams to design scalable platforms that support learning globally.

Ideal candidates have ~8 years in distributed systems, Python proficiency, and AWS experience, plus strong English.

Qualifications

• 8 years of experience designing, building and maintaining high-traffic distributed systems.
• Strong software engineering skills with Python proficiency.
• Experience with major public cloud (preferably AWS).
• Experience implementing observability and alerting.
• Willingness to participate in paid on-call rotations.
• Business orientation and data-driven approach.
• Nice to have knowledge of modern web frameworks; SQL and relational DBs.
• Strong communication skills; English level at least B2.

Responsibilities

• Own the availability and performance of mission-critical services and build automation to prevent problems recurrence.
• Improve the system's scalability, observability, and alerting.
• Build tooling to improve our platform and accelerate software development.
• Practice sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems.
• Collaborate with product teams to help tackle technical issues and design new systems.
• Strengthen credibility with the quality of the team's technical execution.
• Follow the best FinOps practices.
• Participate in on-call rotation across the team.
