Job Description:

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

You must have a live NMC UK pin in order to be considered for this post.

This is a permanent, full time position.

The shift pattern for this position is Mon-Sunday. 12 hour shifts. Rotational day/night shift.

Do you have a passion for excellence in care?
Do you want to work in an exciting fast paced environment?
Are you looking for opportunities to learn new skills and develop in
your career?

If so, we are looking for enthusiastic Registered Nurses to join our Orthopaedic team at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. You will be working as a Band 5 Staff Nurse providing essential nursing care to our patients with varying presentations of fractures/injuries in our 28 bedded wards.

The successful applicant will gain experience in all aspects of Orthopaedic nursing care. The Orthopaedic department cares for a wide variety of patients from those undergoing elective surgery to patients admitted from the emergency department. This patient group facilitates the nursing team with diverse development prospects and excellent opportunities to develop knowledge and skills. You will obtain competency in nursing the patient admitted from the Emergency Department, Pre & Post-operative care and also the care of patients stepped down from critical care.

You will utilise a broad range of knowledge and skills in the assessment, planning and implementation of care for this patient group. Including pre and post-operative care and early rehabilitation. Receiving patients directly from ED will allow you to gain skills towards managing the unscheduled care target and safe and efficient flow of the patient journey.

Within the department we offer a comprehensive programme of education and support to enhance your development within the specialty. You will demonstrate a willingness to undertake in-service training in order to gain competency in areas such as pain management & wound care (including negative pressure wound therapy).

You will be responsible to the Senior Charge Nurse and should be able to work on your own merit supported by the wider nursing team. You should hold current registration with the NMC and be educated to degree level or equivalent. Experience in a surgical specialty is desirable but not essential. This post requires membership of Disclosure Scotland’s PVG scheme. You will be working a fully rotational shift pattern of 12 hour days and nights encompassing public holidays also.
