Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Staff Nurse on SEW Ward at Broomfield Hospital for a ten-month fixed-term post. The role involves delivering safe, patient-centred care in collaboration with physiotherapy, surgery teams, and the wider multidisciplinary team.

Applicants must be NMC registered. Acute care experience or NHS placements are preferred, with a willingness to supervise learners and uphold high standards of care within the Essence of Care framework.

Qualifications

• NMC registration is required to practice as a staff nurse.
• Acute care exposure via NHS placements or employment (HCA/NA/TNA) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe and effective patient care in line with the NMC Code and Trust policies.
• Organise and deliver individualised care that meets patients' physical, social and psychological needs.
• Communicate and work in partnership with patients, relatives, carers and the multidisciplinary team.
• Support the Senior Charge Nurse to maintain and develop high standards of care, with privacy, dignity and respect.
• Support the Senior Charge Nurse in delivering Trust Nursing and Patient Involvement strategies.
• Help ensure practice reflects current clinical developments, evidence and audit, and participate in these activities.
• Embrace and implement the Essence of Care Framework locally.
• Supervise and delegate to healthcare assistants, student nurses and other learners.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care plans.

Job description

Staff Nurse secondment on SEW Ward at Broomfield Hospital, a ten-month fixed-term cover post with Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust. The ward cares for surgical inpatients including colorectal, urology and general surgery, and admits emergency surgical patients and transfers from SDEC and Basildon urology. The role works closely with physiotherapy, occupational therapy, the pain team, stoma nurses and tissue viability, and offers learning support. Applicants must be NMC registered.
