An established healthcare provider is seeking a dedicated Endoscopy Nurse to join a vibrant and supportive team at Southport and Ormskirk Hospital. We require a minimum of 12 months of post-qualifying experience due to the role's requirements.
Join us on our exciting journey of expansion at Southport and Ormskirk Hospital. We are actively working towards securing accreditation through the Joint Advisory Group (JAG) on Gastrointestinal Endoscopy as a high-quality gastrointestinal endoscopy service.

We are seeking an experienced Endoscopy Nurse or a Band 5 nurse interested in a career change, wishing to work in a more specialist area of nursing with opportunities for further development and a passion for learning Endoscopy.
Our focus is on ensuring patients receive high-quality treatment promptly, in clean and comfortable surroundings.
You will be part of a friendly, welcoming, and expert Multidisciplinary Endoscopy Team that is enthusiastic and encouraging in a happy working environment. Mentoring, training, and guidance will be provided.
A Staff Nurse role with the team involves various duties, including patient admission and recovery, assisting with Endoscopy procedures, airway support, or scope assistance after training. You will rotate through different roles across both sites, working with specialties such as Gastroenterology, Urology, Colorectal, Respiratory, Vascular, and Cardiology. Training is provided internally, with support from external sources.

KEY DUTIES:
- Communicate complex information sensitively and confidentially regarding patient care.
- Communicate compassionately and empathetically, using persuasion and reassurance.
- Recognize barriers to communication and modify style accordingly.
- Provide training to students effectively.
- Maintain clinical skills within scope of practice.
- Ensure safe custody and administration of drugs, adhering to statutory and trust requirements.
- Respond to complaints/concerns and escalate as needed in the absence of the Sister/Charge Nurse.
- Manage clinical incidents and near misses appropriately.
- Support multidisciplinary team decision-making and act as a patient advocate.
- Follow organizational policies and risk assessment procedures.
- Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and safety.
- Use departmental resources efficiently.
- Handle patient valuables securely.
- Verify and record hours worked through agency timesheets.
- Coordinate with the Roster Coordinator for staffing.
Teaching & Training Responsibilities:
- Deputize for the Sister/Charge Nurse.
- Manage own and others' time to ensure high-quality service.
- Supervise and assess junior staff and students.
- Participate in setting personal and professional objectives.
- Support appraisal processes.
- Be flexible with staffing and redeployment within scope.
Research & Audit:
- Contribute to research and audit data collection.
- Identify audit topics.
- Critically evaluate research for clinical application.
- Recognize personal development needs and training requirements.
- Maintain a professional portfolio and reflective diary.
- Promote wellbeing and a culture of learning.
- Reflect on practice for continuous improvement.
