Job summary

St John & St Elizabeth Hospital in London is seeking a Staff Nurse to join the St Francis Ward, a 15-bed surgical unit caring for urology, GI and plastics cases. The successful candidate will have current NMC registration and post-qualification experience.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse – Adult with valid NMC registration.
• Diploma or degree in nursing related subject.
• Post-registration qualification in stroke or acute medicine or relevant experience.
• Minimum of 2 years post-registration experience in the ward.
• Experience in shift management and leading a team.
• Evidence of ongoing training and commitment to development.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and delivery of individualised, safe and evidence-based patient care.
• Provide a welcoming, caring and safe environment for patients and families.
• Participate in efficient ward operations and lead shifts when required.
• Deputise for Ward Manager and Deputy Ward Manager.
• Support nursing care delivery and service development.
• Fulfill Duty Manager responsibilities as needed.
• Support Ward Manager, Deputy Ward Manager and shift leaders.
• Act as link nurse for designated clinical responsibilities and attend meetings.
• Contribute to teaching sessions for clinical staff.

Would you like to join London’s leading nursing team? We are looking for a Staff Nurse to join our busy surgical ward, St Francis, our 15 bedded ward specialising in providing care to a variety of surgical specialties, including; urology, gastrointestinal surgery and plastics/cosmetic surgery.

The successful applicant will have been working in a similar environment and will be up to date in current practices. Experience will extend to working within a busy ward and professional, multi-disciplinary teams. Ideally, you will have worked in a ward specialising in stroke rehabilitation. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to join a thriving busy team and wants to work with excellent staff to patient ratios.

What would be my responsibilities be my responsibilities as the Staff Nurse:

• To assist in the planning and the delivery of individualised, safe, effective and evidence based patient care


• To ensure the provision of a welcoming, caring and safe environment for patients and their families.


• To participate in the efficient operational management of the department and undertake shift leading responsibility on a regular basis.


• To deputise for the Ward Manager and Deputy ward Manager


• To undertake tasks and responsibilities assigned by the Ward Manager supporting the management and development of the nursing care and the delivery of the service


• To undertake the Duty Manager role


• To provide support to the Ward Manager, Deputy ward Manager and shift leaders


• To undertake a link nurse role(s) for designated clinical responsibilities, attend meetings and complete associated actions attached to the link nurse role


• To participate in presenting and delivering teaching sessions for the clinical staff

Am I the right person for this Staff Nurse post?

• Registered Nurse – (Adult) with a valid NMC registration


• Diploma/degree in relevant subject


• Post registration qualification in stroke or acute Medicine or demonstrate relevant experience and competency in area of specialities


• 2 years post registration experience in one of the specialities of the ward


• Experience of Shift Management and Leading a team


• Evidence of ongoing training and commitment to development
