Job summary

Depop Limited is seeking a Staff ML Scientist to join our Ranking ML team in the UK. You will lead the design, development, and deployment of ranking models powering Depop’s app, delivering personalized recommendations and search results at scale.

You will collaborate with product, engineering, and data partners to translate problems into engineered solutions, drive innovation, and mentor others to advance technical excellence across the team.

Qualifications

• Significant experience as an ML Scientist delivering scalable models with measurable impact.
• Proven track record in designing learning-to-rank models and ranking systems.
• Advanced understanding of ML concepts and production-ready pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and deployment of ranking models across the app, including recommendations and search results.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and data teams to define problems and scalable solutions.
• Oversee end-to-end ML project lifecycle from ideation to deployment and iteration.
• Drive innovation by researching ML techniques, frameworks, and tooling.
• Mentor team members and set technical direction within Ranking ML.
• Represent Depop externally as a thought leader in ranking ML.
