Job summary

Engine by Starling is hiring a Staff Engineer to lead complex backend initiatives across banking platforms worldwide. You’ll drive architectural decisions, mentor teams, and shape tooling, automation and software delivery at scale.

You will collaborate with engineers, solution architects and product owners to deliver features from scratch and improve existing systems, while embracing a culture of curiosity and excellence.

Qualifications

• Open to candidates with aptitude and attitude over formal qualifications.
• Clean coding, simple solutions, automated testing and continuous deployment are valued.
• Experience delivering change to critical systems in a distributed environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple complex projects from inception through to run.
• Be a technical leader, with or without a formal management role.
• Own technical challenges critical to the business's success.
