Job summary

Aave Labs is hiring a Staff Backend Engineer to advance the infra behind DeFi protocols and vault products. You will own production systems and data pipelines, interfacing with offchain services and onchain state.

You’ll collaborate with Quant and smart contract teams on secure, reliable infrastructure that handles critical user funds. You will contribute to high-performance backend systems, emphasize correctness, and drive architectural ownership in a fast-moving, autonomous environment across

Qualifications

5–8+ years of backend engineering experience with production ownership.
Strong Rust experience; other systems languages are a plus.
Experience building high-performance, data-intensive backend systems.
Strong PostgreSQL knowledge and data modeling skills.
Experience with blockchain, DeFi, or financial infrastructure.
Ability to work independently in a high-autonomy environment.
Strong judgment around correctness, reliability, and security.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and operate backend infrastructure for DeFi protocols and vault products.
Build vault management, curation, and allocation systems.
Develop high-throughput blockchain indexers and data ingestion pipelines.
Design APIs that are performant, stable, and well-documented.
Collaborate with Quant Engineers to deploy production services from models.
Coordinate with smart contract engineers on onchain interactions.
