Job summary

Dex is building an AI workspace for sensitive financial data, with a focus on regulated environments and scalable backend services. You will own core systems end-to-end, collaborating closely with founders and ML engineers to productionise models and deliver robust data pipelines.

The role offers senior leadership in an IC path, guiding design reviews and mentoring teammates as the platform scales to serve top-tier financial institutions.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience building scalable production systems.
• Expert in Python, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL query optimization.
• Experience with distributed systems and cloud platforms.
• Experience with security in regulated environments (SOC 2, GDPR, FCA).

Responsibilities

• Architect and build scalable backend services and APIs for an AI workspace handling sensitive financial data.
• Design and implement high-performance data pipelines for large-scale financial datasets with strict latency requirements.
• Optimise PostgreSQL schemas, queries, and indexing strategies in a high-throughput, distributed environment.
• Partner with ML engineers to productionise models and integrate them into robust backend systems.
• Lead technical design reviews, mentor engineers, and influence engineering culture as the platform scales.
