Job summary

Pleo is seeking a senior Analytics Engineer to own the semantic layer and analytics standards across the business. You’ll shape how metrics are defined, modeled, and consumed by AI services, BI tools and analysts, with a strong emphasis on governance and reliable data contracts.

You’ll report to the Data Engineering Manager within Data Infra & MLOps and partner with Analytics Engineers across the team. This role offers significant influence over tooling choices and an opportunity to build from

Qualifications

• Deep demonstrated expertise in dbt and modelling practices.
• Deep BigQuery and SQL expertise, including performance, cost considerations.
• Experience owning a semantic layer (LookML, dbt MetricFlow, or equivalent).
• AI-native development practice in a data engineering context.
• Proven experience setting standards across teams you don’t directly manage.
• Understanding of what LLMs and agentic tools need from a data layer.
• Proven experience engaging credibly with backend engineers on data contracts and senior stakeholders on what the semantic layer strategy means for the business.

Responsibilities

• Own the semantic layer: define metric definitions, structure, storage, and enforcement.
• Set data modelling standards for the function across domains.
• Build and run the Analytics Engineering community of practice.
• Own the AI-native development practice and assess governance of AI tools.
• Lead AI-augmented migration work across the Analytics Warehouse and ODP.
• Design data models and metrics for AI services without human intervention.
• Engage upstream with backend engineers on data contracts and schema ownership.
• Contribute to Data & AI Products for external customer-facing analytics.
