Sodexo Live! St James’ Park in Newcastle is seeking passionate chefs to join our team for the 2026/27 season.

You'll prepare and cook food to high standards in a fast-paced stadium environment, aligned with brand specifications and matchday demands. This role covers both matchday and non-matchday events, offering variety, teamwork, and opportunities to progress in a world‑leading food and facilities management company.

Qualifications

• Passionate about food and delivering high-quality service in a fast-paced environment.
• Previous chef or kitchen experience essential.
• Able to work calmly and efficiently under pressure during busy matchday periods.
• Strong understanding of food hygiene, allergen awareness, and kitchen safety procedures.
• Reliable, punctual, and flexible to work evenings, weekends, and matchdays.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and support the wider kitchen team.
• Comfortable working in a high-volume stadium or event catering environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food to a high standard in line with stadium and brand specifications
• Assist with food preparation before service periods, including portioning, chopping, and stock organisation
• Maintain consistency, quality, and presentation during busy matchday service
• Work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment to meet high customer demand
• Follow all food hygiene, allergen, and health & safety regulations at all times
• Ensure kitchen workstations, equipment, and storage areas are kept clean and organised
• Monitor food temperatures and ensure safe food handling procedures are followed
• Support stock rotation and minimise food waste in line with kitchen procedures
• Communicate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service
• Assist with receiving, storing, and replenishing kitchen supplies and ingredients
• Follow instructions from senior chefs and kitchen management during service
• Help with opening and closing kitchen duties, including cleaning and equipment checks
• Adapt to varying menus, event requirements, and fluctuating service demands
• Maintain professionalism and composure during high-pressure matchday operations
