Job summary

Greater London Authority seeks an SSM Lead to head a seven-person team delivering SuDS through the Streetworks Market. You will coordinate cross-agency workstreams, engage with local authorities, utilities, and regulators, and shape market guidance and governance in London.

The role requires strategic leadership, programme management, and the ability to translate complex environmental and civil engineering issues into deliverable plans while managing budget and risk.

Qualifications

• A track record of leadership, team management and external engagement.
• Degree or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g. Environmental studies, Sustainability, Civil Engineering).
• Technical expertise on water, infrastructure, streetworks; experience in environmental markets, construction, utilities.
• Experience operating in a complex political environment and preparing concise reports for varied audiences.
• Strong programme and project management skills with delivery to time and budget.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multi-disciplinary team across SuDS and delivery streams.
• Provide strategic direction and manage risks to meet delivery targets.
• Engage with buyers (local authorities, TfL) and suppliers (utilities, contractors).
• Develop market guidance, governance and best-practice funding and evaluation.
• Represent GLA in meetings and disseminate lessons learned across sectors.
