Job description
Overview

Location: Brighton - City Campus, Moulsecoomb and Falmer
Salary: Circa £14.96 per hour
Closing Date: Monday 13 October 2025
Reference: SROCASUAL25-AUT

Student Recruitment and Outreach (SRO) Student Ambassadors support the University’s recruitment and outreach work on an ongoing basis, including activities in local schools and colleges, UCAS fairs, creating content for our social media and website, Open Days, and much more. This is an ongoing, casual role where you apply for shifts that interest you and fit around your other commitments. It is a great way to top up your income by a few hours each month and develop your employability skills and CV.

The SRO team works with partner schools and colleges across the UK (especially around East Sussex, Essex, Kent, London, Hampshire and Surrey), so there may be opportunities for students to participate in recruitment activities near home.

Responsibilities
  • Support recruitment and outreach activities at schools, colleges, UCAS fairs, Open Days, and on social media/website content creation.
  • Assist with events and activities organised by the SRO team, including travel as required to partner sites.
  • Contribute to content creation and communications to promote the University’s recruitment and outreach goals.
  • Participate in interview and training processes as part of the Ambassador Scheme.
Selection and Interview Process
  • Successful applicants will be invited to an interview consisting of a group presentation activity and an individual interview. If invited to interview and interested in content creation, you may be asked to complete a short task (a vlog).
  • Interviews are planned for campus locations (City, Moulsecoomb and Falmer) in the weeks commencing 27 October, 3 November and 11 November. Successful candidates will be notified by 21 October.
  • We aim to conduct an accessible and inclusive interview process; please email with any reasonable adjustments needed.
Training and Commitment
  • Selected candidates must take part in mandatory in-person training scheduled during the week commencing 1 December on the Moulsecoomb campus before becoming an SRO Student Ambassador.
  • All applicants should expect the process to take time due to interviews and training.
Eligibility and Prioritisation
  • We may prioritise applications from certain course groups due to gaps in our ambassador pool. We usually look for applicants who have at least 12 months left on their university course (undergraduate or postgraduate). We will consider final year and postgraduate students as well.
  • As part of the Ambassador Scheme, there are guaranteed interviews for students in receipt of a scholarship and students who are care experienced. You are not required to disclose these details unless you wish to include “Scholarship” or “Care Experience” in the additional comments of your application.
Application Content
  • We expect applicants to complete full answers that demonstrate understanding of the role and the skills sought for an SRO Student Ambassador. Guidance and resources are available via the University careers service and relevant blogs (references provided in the original posting).
  • Use the STAR method for responses if helpful, and include any relevant school-based activities or Open Days experience in your examples.
