As a Sr. Manager, EMEA Global Trade and Customs, based in Reading, you will support and oversee all regional Global Trade activities, including import, export, duty savings, and special trade programs.

This role develops and implements internal controls related to Baxter’s global trade activities to ensure compliance with Customs and government regulations, minimize penalties, increase duty reduction opportunities, and support all Baxter entities.

The Senior Manager also defines strategic planning opportunities for trade operations, maintains a strong Global Trade team, and collaborates with facilities and country personnel. You will support continuous improvement projects to ensure best-in-class processes, systems, and standards, staying updated on legislative and regulatory changes.

What you'll be doing
  • Recruit, manage, and develop the Regional Global Trade team for growth and efficiency, including career development and succession planning.
  • Oversee changes to Customs laws and regulations, communicating relevant updates to affected trade teams.
  • Lead the deployment of standardized global trade processes and supervise software implementation.
  • Develop and deliver import/export training programs.
  • Implement strategic cost-saving initiatives like duty drawbacks, free trade agreements, and duty suspension regimes.
  • Represent Baxter in cooperation with local management, legal, and advisors, including handling government requests and leading Customs audits.
  • Work closely with logistics, planning, and manufacturing to integrate trade activities seamlessly.
  • Utilize Baxter Operating System (lean/six sigma) to improve value and efficiency.
What you'll bring
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred from an accredited university).
  • At least 7 years of international trade compliance experience, with knowledge of trade principles such as product valuation, tariff classification, C-TPAT, export controls, and trade programs.
  • Understanding of import/export operations, trade compliance, and regulations in a multinational environment.
  • Knowledge of supply chain logistics, warehousing, distribution, and inventory management.
  • Self-motivated with minimal supervision, results-oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, capable of operating independently and collaborating across functions.
  • Experience working with global teams in a matrixed environment.
  • U.S. Customs Brokers license or similar certification is highly preferred; experience in healthcare or regulated industries is ideal.
  • Experience with Customs, FDA/MOH, and other agencies internationally.
