Job summary

Warwickshire Police is seeking a SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to maintain and secure its SQL Server databases across Records Management and related systems. The role requires a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a 24/7 operational environment, with focus on security, backup, performance tuning and data governance.

You will participate in on-call rotas, support changes through CAB, and ensure documentation and audit readiness while travelling within Warwickshire as required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant SQL Server experience.
• Experience with 24/7 operational policing databases.
• Strong knowledge of database security, encryption, and access control.
• Familiarity with ITIL foundations and change/incident management.
• Ability to design and test high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
• Experience with data governance, retention, and audits.
• Excellent technical documentation and runbooks.

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, monitor and support SQL Server databases.
• Ensure performance, stability, and capacity meet 24/7 policing demands.
• Implement database security, access controls and encryption.
• Ensure compliance with data governance, retention, and audit requirements.
• Design, maintain, and test high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
• Support secure system integrations with internal and national systems.
• Deliver database changes through formal change control and CAB processes.
• Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and audit evidence.
• Provide on-call and major incident DBA support for live systems.
• Support projects and change requiring DBA input.
• Undertake other duties commensurate with the post.
