Job summary
A national security agency in Birmingham is looking for an experienced Database Administrator to manage critical database systems. The role involves monitoring and maintaining MS-SQL and Postgres databases, providing support for high-priority instances, and ensuring high availability. The ideal candidate should have strong communication skills, experience in database administration, and familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server. Additionally, the post holder will be part of an on-call rota for critical system maintenance. Excellent training and career development are offered.
Qualifications
Experience in database administration, including back-ups and maintenance.
Knowledge of SQL and Postgres development and scripting tools.
Experience with high availability setups like Always on HA.
Ability to work to tight deadlines and changing priorities.
Responsibilities
Monitor MS-SQL and Postgres Databases for issues and performance.
Resolve database-related issues and alter schemas as needed.
Manage and maintain the database layer supporting high-priority instances.
Perform daily checks, maintain patches, and ensure uptime.
