Job summary

eTeam in Manchester is hiring a SQL DBA Lead to manage Azure and on-prem SQL Server and MySQL databases across production, UAT and development environments. The role focuses on performance, security and availability, and is based onsite in Manchester.

The position requires BPSS+ SC clearance. You will mentor junior DBAs and drive knowledge sharing within the team, working with Azure, MySQL, SSIS, Power BI and ITIL processes.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2016 onwards).
• Experience with Azure VMs, Windows Server and Azure DevOps.
• SSIS experience creating, maintaining and deploying packages.
• Knowledge of Power BI Report Server, troubleshooting access and performance, installing SSL certificates.
• Basic working knowledge of SCOM and/or Azure Monitor.
• Experience with ServiceNow or similar ITIL system.
• Powershell is nice to have.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalent certification preferred.
• ITIL Foundation certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain MS SQL and MySQL databases, including clustering, replication, backups, and performance tuning.
• Provide third-line support and resolve incidents via call management systems.
• Perform planned releases, patching, and upgrades across environments.
• Monitor and optimise database performance, including space management and alert log checks.
• Mentor junior DBAs and contribute to knowledge sharing across the team.

• We are well versed in Microsoft SQL Server (2016 onwards)
• We have significant experience with T-SQL, stored procedures, and triggers
• We have experience with Azure VMs, Windows Server, and Azure DevOps
• We have SSIS experience creating, maintaining, and deploying packages through SQL Server Integration Services
• We have knowledge of Power BI Report Server and can troubleshoot access and performance issues, perform upgrades, and install SSL certificates
